I started working in this profession in the late 1970’s with a local accountancy firm in Aberdeen which was subsequently bought out by one of the big firms of the time in the mid 1980’s. This gave me an insight into the pros and cons of working for both large and smaller businesses. It also gave me a very good grounding in accountancy and taxation but more importantly an aspiration to try and assist people and their business in the wider sense. 

I particularly like working with new businesses and helping people match expectation to reality.  For existing and new business I see my role as risk management and helping them to understand and overcome the barriers to their success. Transparency and clarity promote better understanding and result in an improved capacity to manage and achieve individual goals.
